Adopting a Cat

If you are interested in adopting one of our wonderful felines, please leave a phone message instead of sending an email in order to save a few days of response time.

Why is a $45 adoption fee for one cat or a $70 adoption fee for two a better deal than a free cat? Before our cats and kittens go to a new home, each of them receives:

  • Spay or neutering
  • FIV and leukemia tests
  • Vaccinated for rabies, upper-respiratory disease, leukemia and distemper
  • De-fleaing or de-worming if necessary
  • Given any other necessary veterinary attention

These charges typically cost a pet owner over $100. (For kittens not old enough to receive these veterinary services, the CCC will pay these charges once they are old enough to receive them.) Adopt from us in confidence knowing that your feline is protected and has a clean bill of health!

We are not able to take in any more cats or kittens found in any area of Chico! The few foster homes we have are now full and no new offers of foster homes have been offered. Under our lease agreement, we may not have any new cats in our sanctuary. We are, however, happy to lend advice on fostering rescued cats and kittens in your own home. If you need financial assistance for spay/neutering services, please call PAWS at 892-2687 (Chico) or 534-5713 (Oroville).

We show our felines many Sundays at PetCo and by appointment. Please look for our ad in the Chico Enterprise Record.

The Chico Cat Coalition is currently short-staffed. If you leave a message, we'll get back to you as soon as possible (usually within 24 hours).

VOLUNTEERS ARE GREATLY NEEDED!

If you have just a few spare hours a week, you can make a difference in the lives of dozens of homeless felines. We have an immediate need for volunteers to assist with Adoption events and also to temporarily foster cats and kittens in their home. Please click on the "Volunteer" link for more information or send us an email letting us know what areas you are able to help out with.

The Chico Cat Coalition is unable to assist with feral cat problems, neighborhood strays or owner-surrenders. We are not a shelter. Please call the Butte Humane Society in Chico at 343-7917 for assistance with these situations. Information on dealing with feral cat issues can be found on our "Links" page.
